Community Messiah Ms. Stacy Flood, Kell House Museum Mr. Joe Tom White, Wichita Falls Railroad Museum Ms. Linda Bates, Wichita Falls Backdoor Theatre Call To Order: John Christoff, Chairperson called the meeting of the Wichita Falls Arts Commission to order at 11:30 a.m. in room 203 of the W. F. Recreation Center. Mr. Christoff ask the members to recognize Dorothy Roberts Burns as City Council Representative. Presentations: Presentations were made by representatives of non-profit organizations requesting funding from the 2005-2006 FY budget. These representatives and organizations were Gari Boehm/Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre, Janelle Ponder Smith/Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Inc., Dr. James Schuppener/M.S.U. Choral Department, Brenda JarrettlW. F. Art-Entertainment & Culture, Inc., Lin Purtle/Kemp Center for the Arts, Maria Damron/W. F. Youth Symphony Orchestra, Nancy Steele-Hamme/M.S.U. Department of Art, Jeanette Showalter/Wichita Falls Community Messiah, Stacy Flood/Wichita County Heritage Society, Dean Brumley/The Museum of North Texas History, Joe Tom White/Wichita Falls Railroad Museum and Linda Batestwichita Falls Backdoor Theatre. These ballots were then averaged by applicant to produce the following recommendation to the City Council for funding from the FY 2005-2006 Budget: Organization Amount Recommended Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre, Inc. $ 8,100 Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Inc. $ 9,700 Wichita County Heritage Society Inc. $ 8,800 Midwestern State University Department of Art $ 3,000 Museum of North Texas History $ 8,300 Kemp Center for the Arts $ 9,600 Wichita Falls Backdoor Theatre $ 8,800 Midwestern State University Choirs $ 3,600 Wichita Falls Community Messiah, Inc. $ 2,900 Wichita Falls Railroad Museum, Inc. $ 7,900 Wichita Falls Art-Entertainment & Culture, Inc. $ 4,800 Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra, Inc. $ 4,500 TOTAL FUNDS RECOMMENDED $ 80,000 There was a discussion on having the meeting more than once a year. It was agreed to set the meeting for the first Tuesday in October each year. A motion was made by John Hirschi to nominate John Christoff as chairperson, Dean Brumley as 'Vice Chairperson and Marsha Dillion as Secretary for the 2005-2006 FY. Motion was seconded and motion carried by unanimous vote. A plaque will be made for Don ''Burkman in appreciation of his service to the Wichita Falls Arts Commission.
