AN ORDINANCE REGULATING PUBLIC DA,NCE9SUBBRESSING PUBLIC DANCES AID
PUBLIC DANCE HALLS,REQUIRING LICENSTS FOR THE HOLDING OF CERTAIN DANCES
.AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
Be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of the. City of Wichita
Falls, Texas;
Section 1.
That no person,firm,eorporation,club,society or association shall
keep or maintain a public dance hall within the corporate limits of the
City of Wichita Falls,Texais,whieh shall be open promiscuously to the publdo
either upon the payment of an admission fee or otherwise,nor shall any
person visit or attend any such public dance house or public dance held
therein.
Section 2.
That no person,firm, copporation,club,society °or association shall
knowingly let or lease to any person, firm,corporation, club ,society or
association any room,house or building for the purpose of having,carrying
on or conducting therein any public dance hall or house to which the
public are invited promiscuously to visit and attend either upon the
payment of an admission fee or otherwise.
Section 3.
That it shall be unlawful for any person,firm,corporation,club,
society or association to give or hold any dance in any roo m,hall or
building other than at a private residence,without first having procured
a lieence or permit therefor from the City Clerk of said City, for which
said permit the sum of one($1.00) dollar shall be paid on the date of the
issuance of the same. Said permit shall state the day and hour at which
said dance shall take place. Said City Clerk is hereby authorized to
issue said permits or licenses for such dames only upon the presentation
of applications properly signed and approved by the Chief of Police of
the City of Wichita Falls,Texas.
Section 4.
That the Chief of Police of said City ia,hereby impowered and
authorized to designate- any sere.e.,o 7 other
suitable person as "Inspector of Dances and Dance Halle whose duty it
shall be to attend any dance given pursuant to the terms of this ordinance
and see that such dances are carried on and conducted in a decent and
proper manner; said inspector so appointed shall have the powee to eject
from any such hall or place any person found in a state of intoxication
therein,or who is guilty of any lewd,immoral or unseemingly conduct therein,
or who uses vulgar or indecent language in or about the same,or who affends
against the decent proprieties of a social gathering, either in the matter
of dress,action or language; naid inspector is hereby authorized to arrest
or cause to be arrested anyone so affending.
Section 6.
That anyone violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction therefor shall be
fined in any sum not less than five dollars(06.00)nor more than one
hundred dollars($100.00) .
Section 6.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in# conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
