AN ORDINANCE LEVYING ASSESSING'AND FIXING THE RATE OF
TAXATION IN THE CITY OF 'WICHITA FALLS,7-FOR THE YEAR A.D.1923,
AVID ALSO LEVYING AN OCCUPATION TAX ON ALL OCCUPATIONS TAXABLE
UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS, AND THE CHARTER AND
ORDAVANCES OF SAID CITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF"'.;ICHITA FALLS, TEXAS.
SECTION I. There shall be levied, assessed and col-
lected for the year A.D. 1923, an ad valorem tax of fifty and
one-foutth(50.4�,) cents on each One Hundred (100.00) Dollars
of the assessed value of all property within the limits of the
City of Wichita Falls, Texas, subject to taxation under the
Charter of said City. Said tax shall be levied and collected
for the current expenses and for general improvements of the
City and its property to be known as the General Fund.
There shall be levied, assessed and collected for the
year A.D. 1923, an ad valorem tax of Nine and Six tenths(0960g)
cents on each One Hundred (100.00) Dollars'fff the assessed
*aloe -of all property within the limits of'said City subject to
taxation under the charter of said City. Said tax shall be
levied and collected for the purpose of paying off the interest
and the prinoipal of the Funding Warrant Notes of the General
Fund which were heretofore legally issued.
SECTION II. There shall be levied, assessed and
collected for the year A.D. 1923, agVad valorem tax of Twelve
and One-f-purth :(12.25/) cents on each One Hundred (100.00)
Dollars of the assessed value of all property within the limits
of said City, subject to taxation under the charter of said
City for the purpose of laying out, opening constructing, re-
pairing and improving the reads, bridges an� streets within the
limits of said City, to'be known as the Street Fund.
There shall be levied, assessed and collected for the
year A.D. 1923, an ad valorem tax of Two and Three -fourth
(2.75¢) cents on each One Hundred $$100.00) Dollars of the
assessed value of all property within the limits of said City
subject to taxation under the charter of said City. Said Tax
shall be levied and collected for the purpose of paying off the
Interest and the principal of the Funding Warrant notes of the
Street Fund which were heretofore legally issued.
SECTION III. There shall be'levied, assessed and col-
lected for the year A.D. 1923, an ad valorem tax of two and
three -fourth (2.75) cents on each One Hundred f#100.00) Dollars
of the assessed value Of all property within the limits of said
City, subject to taxation under the Charter of said City, said
tax shall be levied and collected for the purpose of establishing,
providing, maintaining and operating a Public Library to be known
as a Library Fund.
There shall be levied, assessed and collected for the
year A.D.1923 an ad valoreone°ifourth (1/4¢) cents on each
One Hundred (100.00) Dollars of the assessed value of all
property within the limits of said City, subject'to taxation
under the charter of said City. Said tax shall be levied and
collected for the purpose of paying off the Interest and the
principal of the Funding Warrant -Notes of the Library Fund
which were heretofore legally issued.
SECTION IV. There shall be levied, assessed and col-
lected, for the year A.D. 1923, an ad valorem tax of Eleven and
five -tenths (11.05) cents on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars
of the assessed value of all property witly�the limits of said
City subject to taxation under the charter of said City. Said
tax shall be levied and collected for the current expenses in
maintaining, improving and beautifying public parks and cemeteries, and
maintaining and improving public play grounds,-aoll"to be known as the

There shall be levied, assessed and colle,��ated for the year
A.D. 1923, an ad valorem tax of #�O� ents on each
One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars of"the assessed value of all property
within the limits of said City, subject to taxation under the
charter of said City. Said tax shall be levied and collected for the
purpose of paying off the Interest and prin&ipal oftheFunding
Warrant Notes of the"Park Fund which Were, heretofore legally issued.
SECTION V. There shall be levied, assessed and collected
for the year A.D. 1923, for the purpose of paying off the Interest
and creating a Sinking Fund for the redemption of the hereinafter
described bonds which were heretofore legally issued for the purpose
hereinafter tamed, an ad valorem tax of Fifteen (15y) cents on each
One Hundred (100.00) Dollars of the assessed value of all property
within the limits of said City subject to taxation under the charter
of said City, said bonds described as follows:

SECTION VI. There shall be levied, assessed and collected
for the year A.D. 1923 for the purpose of paying off the interest
and creating a Sinking Fund for the redemption of the hereinafter
described bonds which were heretofore legally issued for the purpose

SECTION VII. There shall be levied, assessed and collected
for the year A. D. 1923 for the purpose of paying off the interest
and creating a Sinking Fund for the redemption of the hereinafter
described bonds which were heretofore legally issued for the purpose
hereinafter described, bonds which were heretofore legally issued
for the purpose hereinafter named an ad valorem tax of fifty (50�)
Cents on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars of the assessed value
of all property Within the limits of said City subject to taxation
under the charter of said City, said Bonds described as follows:

SECTION VIII. There shall be levied, assessed and col-
lected from every person, firm, corporation, company or glassociation
of persons following or pursuing any occupation taxable under the
laws of the State of Texas, and the Charter and Ordinances of the
City of Wichita Falls, one half of the amount of tax that is charged
said person, firm, corporation, company or association of persons
under the laws of the State of Texas for following or pursuing
said occupation; and that any person, firm, corporation, company
or association of persons who shall follow or pursue any oceupatIm
callin4 or profession or do any act taxable under the provision
of said State laws or who shall represent, as ggent, any person,
firm, corporation, comppny or association of persons following
any occupation so taxeit first having paid the tax re-
quired by law, shall upon conviction in the Corporation Court
or in any Court having jurisdiction thereof be fined in any sum
not less than the tax due nor more than double said amount, and
that �_:ahy one ptosecuted for the violation of said law shall have
the right to have his case dismissed upon the payment of the tax
and the accrued cost.
