jhen our plant was built , in 1918, our location
was almost a Nile fro..i the corporate liLiits of file city
and fully that far from any considerable group of buildings
within the city limits. le did not have a detailed descrip-
tion of the property and assu-.ed trjs,t it was "acreage"
property. Te therefore planned and constructed our plant
in accordance with that assu.aption. Some ,jontj,s later,
we learned that the land in this vicinity had been platted
into lots _ind blocks , tho it was s evera 1 ye ,,rs before the

I herewith hand you letters addressed
to the City Council, signed by all of the adjoining pro-
perty owners of the Ball Brothers factory site , advising
the City Council that they are agreeable to the vacation
of the streets and alleys embraced within the Ball Brothels
factory site . I also hand you an application from the
Railroad Company joining Ball Brothers in their request
for the vacation of these streets and alleys.
l'ir. Tom Smock will come before your
Council in person and my secretary, 1yr. Roy E. Carter ,
will likewise be there.
I trust with this information before
you that the City Council will find it consistent to
grant the application of Ball Brothers.
Of course those of us who are making
this application understand that should the City Council
grant the vacation of these streets and alleys and it be-
came necessary at some subsequent date , in the interest
of the public good , to open up these streets and alleys ,
that the City Council has the right to do so and our
application is Wade with knowledge of this fact .
