Ord 564 3/9/1925 ORDINANCE No, 564 An ordinance amending Section 94 of Ordinance 494 regulating the construction,alteration, maintenance,repair and removal of buildings within the City of Wichita Falls, Texas. Be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita F'alls ,Texas. Section 1. That Section 94 of Ordinance 494 shall be amended to read as follows; All buildings except dwellings, and buildings not exceeding two and one-half stories or 35 feet in height or �. � 2500 square feet in area,and not used for faetories,ware- houses or mercantile pu rposes,and all buildings within the fire limits shall be covered with material of approved standard quality, such as brick,cement,tile,slate,high grade tin, asphalt composition shingles, asbestos shingles,felt ' or t burlap asphalt roll roofing or of a grade weighing 55 pounds h or more per 100 square feet, buil�up roofing with gravel or slag surface, built up asbestos or asphalt roofing,or with such other incombustible material as the building in- spector may authorise. The sides and tops of dormer windows shall be protected the same as herein prescribed for the roof. Buildings except in the foregoing paragraph may be covered with any fire resisting composition shingles or ready roofing of a grade which will not rank lower than class C /1 under the test specifications of the National Board of Fire Underwriters, built up roofings, or extra clear or better wood shingles . The thickness of five shingles measured at the butt being not less than two inches. The minimum exposure of wood shingles to the Breather shall be: On roofs one-third or more: 16-inch shingles, 5 inches; 18-inch shingles, 5 -- inches;24-inch shingles, 7 inches. On roofs of less than one-third pitch: 16-inch shingles, 4 inches; 18-inch shingles, 4 -j inches; 24-indh shingles, 6 * inches. Shingles to be laid with broken joints or side lap not less than one and one-half (1 .1 )inches, with no breaks directly over each other on any three consecutive coursesa,a.11 nails to be covered. First course at eaves to be laid two ply. Shingles to be nailed with three penny oxidized or galvanized nails with two nails to each shingle 5/8 to 3/4 inch from sides. If stained, shingles must be dry before dipping, and dipped to at least eight inches from the butt. This ordinance to take effect from and after its passage1;,i@:s required by law.
