An Ordinance Amending section one of Ordinance No. 494 Entitled
't "An Ordinance to regulate the construction, alteration, maintenance
om repair, and removal of buildings within the city of Wichita palls ,
Texas, and prescribing penalties for violation.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA,
aAl 1S, TEXAS.
SECTION 1. That section one hundred one (101) of ordinance No.
494 passed and approved 19th day of May A. D. 1924, shall be amend-
ed to read as follows;
Every building except private dwelling houses or churches
where the use of large windows containing art glass would prohibit the
use of metal frames, sash and Wire glass, shall have approved metal
frames and sash glazed with wire glase, not less than one quarter (4)
of an inch in thickness and each pane measuring not more than seven
hundred and twenty (720) square inches in size, on every window: ;and
opening thereof, excepting on the front openings of buildings fronting
on streets, which are more than fifty (50) feet in width, or *.ere

All shutter opening on fire escapes, and at 100-It leant
one row, vertically, in every three vertical rows on the fr,'n; - window
openings above the first stort of any building, shall be so arranged
that they can be readily opened from the outside by firemen.
N rolling iron or steel shutters shall be hereafter
placed above the first story of any building, and when xx used on the
first #tort' they shall be -counterbalanced so that said rolling
shutters may be readily opened by the firemen.
. All occupants of buildings shall close all exterior and
interior fireproof shutters, doors and blinds at the close of the busi-
ness of each day.
