ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, WAIVING SECTIONS 82 -63 AND 82 -68 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES TO PERMIT ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, POSTING
OF SIGNS, AND RESERVATION OF OPEN SPACE AREAS DURING AN
EVENT BY THE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU IN LUCY
PARK JULY 23, 24, AND 25, 2003; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT
THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau wishes to host
several games in Lucy Park during the Fire Fighters Olympics event July 23, 24, and
25, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau believes the event will be more successful if alcoholic
beverages are available to the delegates, certain open space areas are reserved for
event activities, and signs are posted to indicate these reserved areas.; and
WHEREAS, it is not felt behavior problems will result if permission is granted to
these requests.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Sections 82 -63 and 82 -68 of the Code of Ordinances are hereby
waived to permit consumption of alcoholic beverages and the posting of signs to
indicate reserved open space areas, and the reservation of certain open space areas
during an event by the Convention and Visitors Bureau in Lucy Park July 23, 24, and
25, 2003.
SECTION. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which
this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
