SECTION ONE
That ParagraiDh 1 , Section 4, of Ordinance No .
538 , heretofore adopted on tie l5th day of Se-ptcr�bcr,19241,
is hereby amended to read as f011.0-Us :
That a Board of Electrical Wor-11--ers Riaaniners
be , and the same is hereby created. for the City of `�,ichita,
Falls, Te:�t_-),s , to be 1:nw:rn as the "Electrical 'q'iorkers E-x-am-
ininC Board, " which shall consist of five:. members ,`
one member of which shall be an electrical contractor,
one rrenbcr shall be. an electrician in the employ of
the Electric Light Cornpany; one member shall be an archi-
tect ; and one member shall be a technical man; and the
City Electrical Inspector shall constitute the other
member of said board. All members of said board shall
be residents of the city of Wichita Falls, Texas , and
shall be appointed. by the Llayor and shall serve without
pay. It shall be the duty of the Electrical Workers
El,-andninC- Board to examine contractors as to their abil-
ity and qualifications to do electrical work in the City
of Wichita Falls, Texas, and if found to be competent ,
to issue to said applicant a certificate stating that
the applicant is qualiJ.'j.cd to do electrical work in the

City of Wichita Falls, Texas ; providing also that said
board may make its own rules governing its meetings,
proceedings, etc.
A technical man, as defined by this ordinance ,
shall mean any person who is thoroughly familiar with
the theory, practice and application of electricity.
SECTION TWO
That Paragraph 7, o , Sect-ion 6, of Ordinance
1\1o . 538, heretofore adopted. by the Board of Aldermen of
the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, on the 15th day of Sept-
ember, 19234, shall be amended to read hereafter as follows:
Wiring contractors must wire new buildings

Inspector.,' No . company, or individual , firm or corporation,
shall permit -pieces of wire to be left on the surface of
streets or alleys or dead ends to dangle from poles or
buildings, or in any manner leave old or new wire in a
condition that is dangerous to lif*e or property.
SECTION TEME
That Section 9 of Ordinance 538, heretofore
adopted by the Board of Aldermen o-f the City of Wichita
Falls, Texas, on the l5th day of ~eptember, 1924, be
amended so as to hereafter read as follows :
1. Wiring for light , heat or power in all
buildings hereafter erected, a.nd all additions to ex-
isting buildings in the fire limits of the City of Wichita
Falls, Texas , shall be installed in a rigid iron conduit
or metal moulding systera. All buildings hereafter er-
ected. for mercantile purposes, churches , schools, rooming-
houses, garages, hotels„ hospitals , all apartment houses
which shall consist of more than two apartments, factories,
grain elevators, filling stations , refineries, and all
buildi.n,r�,s to be used for public entertL:.inment within the
cites- limits of the City of Ylichita Falls, shall have all
vriring for light, heat and. power installed in a complete
conduit or metal moulding system. All changes or addit-
ions to hiring used for light , heat or pourer within the
fire limilits of the City of Wichita Falls, shall be in

conduit or metal moulding.
2. All poorer wiring shall include all necess-
ary wiring for electric motors , rectifiers, generators ,
electric heating and all electrical apparatus otlier than
lighting and signaling equipment , and shall be in rigid
iron conduit . All switches controlling motors or lights
other than those mounted on switchboards shall be what is
knovm as safety type externally operated indicating the
on or off position.
3. Armored B X Cable will be permissible on
new work only on installing door switches and window
lighting where rigid iron conduit can not be used and
will be permitted on old residences or where conduit is
impractical , and it must not be used in cement , plaster
or brick walls, or where exposed to noisture .
4. Metal mouldin can only be used on ex-
posed work in compliance with the National Code of Fire
Underwriters' Rules
5. Bell ringing transformers must be placed
in approved metal cabinet boxes , and fused not to exceed
three amperes . This shall mean that transformers may be
installed in distribution cabinets if desired.

6. All current consuming openings installed
on main ceiling of store buildings for general il_iunin-
ation shall be made of 600 watt capacity-, including cei
ings of rooris used for mercantile Purposes, also includ-
ing ceiling above and below mezzanine floors and balcon-
ies , ceiling of room-- to be used for shov; rooms or dis-
play roods,' of garages and in no case vii'I-l more than tyro

openings be permitted on one circuit,
cases of decoratingp or outline, lightinLr where more than
two openings to the circuit may be permitted by special
permission.
7 . All conduits must be secured to boxes ,
junction boxes or cabinets by placing approved lock nuts
on outside of box and loc,c- nuts and bushings inside of
boxes.
8. All bath room,kitchen,beasement and pri-
vate garage lights must be ceiling fixtures and control-
led by N-,rall switches. All kitchen , bathroom, basement
and private garage bracket fixtures, must be of non-
conducting material and be controlled by wall switches
or use of grounded fixtures at direction of Inspector.
This section does not include living rooms over or in
private garages , excepting that rules applying to bath
rooms and -private kitchens shall apply.
9. All installations of more than four cir-
cuits must have three wire service where posz;ible and
residence type panel board, and all installations of
eleven circuits or more , must have standard panel boards
enclosed in standard approved steel cabinets. No serv-
ice wires smaller than No . 10B and S. Guage will be allowed.
All service wires must be installed in conduit or metal
moulding from entrance intD cabinet , and also f'ron, cabi-
net to first light opening. Where it is necessary to
install sink;-feeders from main cabinet to distributing
panels only one pair of sub-f'eed.ers will be permitted in a
any one pipe. Exit lights will. be required in all apart-
ments and hotel buildings more than two stories hiLh,and
must be connected to house meter.
10 . All lights indicating fire escape exits
shall have red lights with the words "Fire Escape Exit"
clearly lettered.
11. All conduits installed in underground
worT:, ice boxes and refrigirating plants must be in rigid

galvanized iron pipe and lead covered -aire pulled in.
12 . All o-eiling outlet boxes must be equip-
ped with standard fixture studs. Fixture studs must be
securely fastened with stove bolts and not less than four
bolts to the stud will be accepted or an approved boltless
stud.
13. Ground conductors must be grounded on
the house side of meters to a good ground. (Plumbing
tD
vent pipes and gas pipes will not be considered as grounds . )
14. For thirty ampere service two wires , one
and t,-io circuit , a universal meter trii-ii safety switch must
be used.
15 . The brand circuit fuse is accessible to
the person or persons occupying the premises, where a
switch i :3 located. The main fuse is sealed in such a man-
ner that it can only be opened by a licensed electrician
or the electric company servinE-. the City of ',i'Vichita Falls
with electricity.
16. Any licensed electrician upon application
to the City Electrician may obtain a permit to break a seal
to the main service switch for the purpose of replacinj,7 a
fuse;after lie has broken the seal for the 'Our-pose of re-
placina the fuse , he must report such breaking p r om. -p t ly in
writing to the electric company serving the citizens of
Wichita Falls with electricity, stating that he has broken
such seal and upon his failure to make such report his per-
mit may. be revoked by the Board of Aldermen.
For the purpose of comparison, the follo-vaing
catalog numbers of four manufacturers are ,-iven, but any
safety type approved universal meter trim switch that meets
these requirmments , and is approved by the National Board
of Fire Underwriters , will be acceptable :
