Ord 024-2000 3/7/2000ORDINANCE NO. 'I�6 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS CALLING FOR A GENERAL AND SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON MAY 6, 2000, NAMING POLLING PLACES AND ELECTION OFFICIALS AND ORDERING THAT A PROPOSITION BE PLACED ON THE BALLOT TO SELL SURPLUS PARK PROPERTY; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, Mayor Kathryn A. Yeager has issued an order this date ordering that a General Municipal Election be held on May 6, 2000 for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Councilor District 3, Councilor District 4, and Councilor District 5; and WHEREAS, the City Council has issued an order this date ordering that a Special Municipal Election be held on May 6, 2000, for the purpose of placing on the ballot the proposition question to authorize the City to sell a portion of surplus park property known as Weeks Park along Weeks Park Lane; and WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls Texas is authorized by law to hold such elections on May 6, 2000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. It is hereby ordered that a general election shall be held in the City of Wichita Falls on May 6, 2000, for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Councilor District 3, Councilor District 4 and Councilor District 5. Such election shall be held at the polling places with the election judges shown on Exhibit A, attached hereto for all purposes. SECTION 2. A special election shall be held in the City on May 6, 2000, for the purpose of placing on the ballot the proposition question to authorize the City of Wichita Falls to sell a portion of surplus property known as Weeks Park along Weeks Park Lane, such proposition to be worded as follows: "Shall the City be authorized to sell at fair market value surplus park property in Weeks Park, said property being described as a 1.47, more or less, acre tract of land located in the J.A. Scott Survey, A -294, a tract of land in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas. Yes No " SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 7th day of March 2000.
