Sec. 1 That paragraph two of section one of Ordinance No. 582
passed and approved b17 the Board of Aldermen of the City of
'`:ichita Falls, Texas, on the 14th day of October A. D. 1925,
be and the same is hereby amended so that hereafter said para-
graph two of section one of said ordinance shall read as fol-
lows:
The building shall be substantially constructed of material
chosen because of its easy adaption to perfect cleanliness in ac-
tual operation as an abattoir. Laeh and every such plant must
provide in an adequate and approved way for each of the following
departriients. Stock pens, killing rooms, and reduction department,
provided that in the event such plant is not equipped with chill
room, cold storage room and refrigerating room that the meat
slauY;htered at snoh plant shall be placed in a chill room within
two hoars after it is slawhtered in the city of ichita Falls,
Texas, such chill room, cold storage room and refrigerating room
shall be sanitary and adequate, and 1i:ast be approved by the Board
of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas. It is further
provided herein that the chill room shall be separated from the
cold storage a.ad refrigerating r oms by a solid wall of at least
6 inches in thickness.
The provision of thi,� ordinance in reference to the equipment,
management and operation of abattoirs or slau;hter houses, shall
apply to all abattoirs or slaughter houses flow constructed or in
operation, and from tl'ao date of the �)assar e of this ordinance, it
shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation, association,
butcher, vendor of meat or any other person to have any animal
slaw ,-htered. to be ased.. as food, or exhibited for sale as food or
sold for food, within the limits of e city of Wichita Falls, at
any abattoir, or sla.u,,hter ho-1se not e(;uippecl, managed and aporated.
in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, and any such
person, firm, corporation, association, butcher, vendor of meats,

or any other person slaughtering any animal contrary to tiffs
provision shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on con-
viction of same in corporation court shall be fined any sum
not to exceed Two Hun -red Dollars.
4-,,hereas on account of the unwholesome condition of the
manner in which fresh n7:eats are prepared for market in the
city of ichita Falls, creates an emergency foy. the irnraediate
prose-r°vation of the public health; that the Mule requiring
ordinances to be passed on three separate days be suspended and
said ordinance is hereby passed as an emergency measure and
shall talo effect ,dith one day's publication and it is so or-
dained.
