ORDINANCE MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE WATER AND
SEWER FUND EQUITY FOR PURPOSES OF FUNDING THE REMOVAL
AND DISPOSAL OF STORED SLUDGE FROM THE RIVER ROAD
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT; FINDING AND DETERMINING
THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED
WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, City staff recommends the use of funds from the Water and Sewer
Fund for the removal and disposal of stored sludge from the River Road Wastewater
Treatment Plant as mandated by TNRCC; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the Water and Sewer Fund must be appropriated by
Council so the funds can be used for the cited reason; and
WHEREAS, an urgent public necessity exists to remove this sludge in a timely
manner, therefore the charter requirement delaying the effective date of this ordinance
for thirty days from date of passage is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall take
effect immediately upon passage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated from the Water and Sewer Fund a
current amount of $585,900.00. $485,900.00 is appropriated to operating account 550-
8143 -72330 and $100,000.00 is appropriated to operating account 550 - 8143 - 72050.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
