ORDINANCE MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE SPECIAL
REVENUE FUND FOR ADDITIONAL GRANT REVENUE RECEIVED
FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, tobacco use is the most preventable cause of premature death and
disease, and causes more than 400,000 deaths each year at a cost greater than 50
billion dollars (CDC); and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has received approval for additional grant
funds from the Texas Department of Health; and
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls- Wichita County Public Health District and the
Texas Department of Health desire to work together to prevent and control the use of
tobacco; and
WHEREAS, the approval of these funds could not have been anticipated prior to
adoption of the 1999 -2000 Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated in the Special Revenue Fund $2,794
for Tobacco Prevention and Control activities.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
