ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE NOISE ZONES AS ESTABLISHED BY
THE AUGUST 1999 AIR INSTALLATION COMPATIBLE USE ZONE
( AICUZ) STUDY, AND AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE
ZONING ORDINANCE; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE
MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO
THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, Ordinance 155 -94 amended previous regulations intended to protect
Sheppard Air Force Base and the Municipal Airport as their necessity continues to
relate to essential purposes for the City and North Central Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Defense has amended the Noise Zones for
Sheppard Air Force Base in an amended Air Installation Compatible Use Zone Study
for Sheppard Air Force Base; and
WHEREAS, the intended purpose of this Ordinance is to protect the health,
safety and general welfare of those living or working around Sheppard Air Force Base;
and
WHEREAS, adopting new Noise Zones and amending applicable sections of the
Zoning Ordinance is in conformance with the intent of the City of Wichita Falls to
preserve Sheppard Air Force Base as a viable social and economic resource for the
City and the North Central Texas area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Noise Zones, as established in the August 1999 Air Installation
Compatible Use Zone Study for Sheppard Air Force Base, are hereby adopted as
shown on the attached map, incorporated in this ordinance as Attachment "A ".
SECTION 2. Section 6420, 6430, 6435 and 6455 of the Zoning Ordinance shall
be amended to reword applicable sections to read "... the AICUZ study for Sheppard
Air Force Base dated August 1999.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
