AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, TO AMEND SECTION 15 -127 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, WHICH CLASSIFIES THE
NUMBER OF DESIGNATED CIVIL SERVICE POSITIONS IN
THE WICHITA FALLS FIRE DEPARTMENT; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, Section 143.021 of the Texas Local Government Code requires a
municipality's governing body to establish Fire Department classifications by ordinance,
and the governing body by ordinance shall prescribe the number of positions in each
classification, and
WHEREAS, the plan for the realignment and consolidation reduces the number
of fire stations from nine (9) to eight (8), and
WHEREAS, one engine company will be removed from service, thereby reducing
the number of Fire Equipment Operator's and Fire Lieutenant's by one per shift
equaling three (3) Fire Equipment Operator's and three (3) Fire Lieutenant's, and
WHEREAS, these six ranked positions are being re- classified to Firefighter
through attrition, and
WHEREAS, the new stations will be opened prior to this ordinance taking effect.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That Section 15 -127 of the Code of Ordinance be amended as
follows:
