Ord 100-2000 9/19/2000w ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, REPEALING ORDINANCE 68 -2000, PREVIOUSLY PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 20TH DAY OF JUNE, 2000; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, on the 20th day of June, 2000, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls passed and approved Ordinance No. 68 -2000, which accepted the proposals for the construction of the MPEC Coliseum project in the amount of $19,683,198, and further authorized the City Manager to sign all appropriate contracts for construction of the Coliseum, conditioned upon receipt of $7 million of Certificates of Obligation revenues to partially fund the project; and WHEREAS, on September 5, 2000, the City Clerk officially certified the sufficiency of a referendum petition to the City Council, such referendum petition seeking to submit to the qualified voters of said City the proposition as to whether Ordinance 68 -2000 should be repealed; and, WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 51 of the Home Rule City Charter, upon receipt of such certificate of sufficiency by the City Council, the Council shall reconsider the question as to whether the ordinance specified in the referendum petition should be repealed; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that Ordinance 68 -2000 should be repealed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That all of the above recitals and preambles are found to be true and correct and made a part hereof for all purposes. SECTION 2. That Ordinance 68 -2000, passed and approved by the City Council on June 20, 2000, is hereby repealed. SECTION 3. That it is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
