ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING TAXICAB RATES IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS
INCLUDING THE APPROVAL OF A FIXED RATE CHARGE BETWEEN
SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE AND SIKES SENTER MALL AND REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 107 -96; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING
AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 107 -96 was adopted in July 1996 and sets forth the
allowable rates that can be charged for taxicab service within the city limits of Wichita Falls,
Texas; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 31, Section 31 -58 allows franchise holders the right to request
rate increases; and
WHEREAS, the two franchise holders have submitted requests to increase rates
and said requests have been reviewed by City staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. In accordance with Chapter 31, Vehicles For Hire, of the Code of
Ordinances, Section 31 -57, beginning November 17, 2000, the following schedule of
maximum rates and fares that taxicabs may charge shall become effective and shall
supercede any schedule of rates and fares heretofore provided:
1.1 The rate of fare for one person shall be $ 1.95 for the first 1/5 mile or
fraction thereof traveled by him; and $0.30 for each additional 1/5
miles or fraction thereof traveled by him; and $1.00 for each additional
passenger transported on the same trip, provided all passengers are in
the same party.
1.2 For each one minute of waiting time during each trip, the rate shall be
$0.30, except that for each one minute of waiting time between the
hours of 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights and 2:00 a.m. of the
following morning, the rate shall be $0.42;
1.3 Hand baggage call be carried at no charge to the passenger;
1.4 Nothing herein shall prohibit charges less than the above stated

rates and fares, excepted as provided in Section 1.5
1.5 For trips originating at Sheppard Air Force Base and terminating non-
stop at Sikes Senter Mall or Century City /Plaza and for trips originating
at Sikes Senter Mall or Century City /Plaza and terminating non -stop at
Sheppard Air Force Base, a fixed rate of $15.00 per trip shall be
charged regardless of the number of passengers carried. Discounts
shall not be allowed unless approved by the City in advance.
SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 107 -96 is hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which
this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
