AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 79 OF ORDINANCE NO. 958,
PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 28th DAY OF NOVEMBER, A. D. 19279
ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TRAVEL AND TRAFFIC UPON
THE STREETS OF THE CITY 04A&W
ALLS, TEXAS, REGULATING
THE USE OF SUCH STREETS, ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH AND PROVIDING PENALTIES," SO AS TO PROHIBIT PERSONS
UNDER THE AGE OF FOURTEEN YEARS FROM OPERATING AND DRIVING
MIOTOR VEHICLES UPON THE STREETS; AND DECLARING AN EIMRGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
W,ICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That Section 79 of Ordinance No. 958, passed and approv-
ed on the 28th day of November, A.D. 1927, be, and the same
is hereby amended so as to hereafter read as follo.�rs, to-wit:
SECTION 79.
AGE. It shall be unlawful for any person under fourteen
years of age to operate or drive a motor vehicle upon the
streets or alleys or public grounds of the City of Wichita
Falls, Texas; and it shall also be unlawful for the owner or
for any person having in their charge or control any motor
vehicle to knowingly permit any person under fourteen years
of age to operate or drive same upon the streets, alleys or
public grounds of such city.
SECTION 2.
The fact that the present ordinance prohibiting the
driving of motor vehicles by persons under sixteen years of
age in effect voids certain insurance policies carried by
citizens of Wichita Falls, creates an emergency; .and the rule
requiring the reading of ordinances on three separate days is
hereby suspended. This ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after its passage and approval .
