PRESCRIBING A 11INIIMM. FARE FOR SERVICE AUTOMOBILES, TAXICABS, OR OTHER
PUBLIC MOTOR VEHICLES OF WHATEVER CHARACTER OTHER THAN BUSSES AND
STREET CARS OPERATED UNDER A FRANCHI` + ; PRESCRIBI-?G PENLLTI ES 'dqD DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WEEREAS, in order to maintain permanent transportation ser-
vice on schedule for the City of Yyichita Tails and insure present low
rate of fare for school children, it is necessary and expedient for
the benefit of the general pbulic that an or dinance be passed fixing
a minimum rate of fare for taxicabs operating on the streets of the
City of jIichita falls;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDEPKIEN OF THE
CITY OF WI CT-UTA FALLS, TEXAS:

section shall read as follows:
Section 5a. The charge for service automobiles , taxicabs,
or other motor vehicles of whatever character within the City of
Wichita Falls, Texas, for the transportation of passengers for hire
(other than street cars and busses operated under franchise) shall
never be less than the following schedule, to-wit :
25 cents anywhere within the corporate limits of the City of
'Wichita Falls, Texas.
The foregoing minimum rates shall apply to all vehicles
(except street cars and busses operated under franchise) , the minimum
charge sh al 1 be 25 cents for each passenger carried therein.
PENALTY. Any person who shall violate any provision of this
ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof ,
shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $100.00. Each and every day s
violation of this ordinance shall constitute a separate offense end
shall be punishable as such.
In addition to the foregoing specif ied penalties, any person
violating the terms of this ordinance shall be subject, after three
days, notice, to have his license revoked under the terms and pm -
visions of the procedure p escribed in Section 6 of said ordinance No.
331 of the City of Wichita, ,
SECTION 2. The fact that numerous persons have engaged or
attempted to engage in the service automo bi 1 e and t axic ab business in
recent weeks and have made indefinite charges , same of which are below
the actual cost of adequate and dependable service , and transient per-
sons w ithout the requisite legal citizenship have attempted to engage

day of November, A.D. 1920, be and the same is hereby amended by
adding thereto a section to be known as Section 5a, which said
section shall read as follows:
Section 5a. The charge for service automobiles, taxi-
cabs or other motor vehicles of whatever character within
the city of Wichita Falls, Texas , for the transportation
of passengers for hire (other than streetcars and busses
operated under franchise) shall never be less than the fol-
lowing schedule, to-wit :
(1) One mile or less , 25 cents.
(2) More than one mile but not more than 8 miles,
35 cents.
(3) More than & miles but not more than 3 miles,
50 cents .
(4) More than 3 miles

be 14 city blocks . )
(5) The foregoing minimum rates shall apply to all
vehicles (except streeI ars and busses operated under fran-
chise) whether the passengers carried therein shall be 1,
2, 3 or 4 , and whether the same be adults or minors.
