ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 82 -98, GRANTING A
TAXICAB FRANCHISE TO PREZO, INC., d /b /a, PRESIDENTIAL, TO
INCREASE THE NUMBER OF TAXICABS PERMITTED; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, Prezo, Inc., d /b /a, Presidential, has a taxicab franchise to operate in
the city limits of Wichita Falls and is authorized a total of twenty -five taxicab permits;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has received a request from the franchise
holder to increase the number of taxicabs permitted with the franchise; and
WHEREAS, Sec. 31 -33(b) of the Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances states that a
taxicab franchise may be amended by the City Council to increase the number of
vehicles authorized under the franchise at a public hearing and after finding that an
increase is required for public convenience and necessity; and
WHEREAS, on January 16, 2001, a public hearing was held to consider this
request; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that an increase in the number of vehicles
authorized to Prezo, Inc., d /b /a, Presidential is required for public convenience and
necessity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 82 -98, granting a taxicab franchise to Prezo, Inc.,
d /b /a, Presidential, is hereby amended, to increase the number of taxicabs permitted by
four, from 25 to 29.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
