Ord 056-2001 6/5/2001ORDINANCE NO. F ICC ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 23 -17 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE A CONTRACTOR WORK PERMIT FOR ROOFING WORK; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, there is a need to authorize the issuance and charge a fee for special permit types of construction contractors; and WHEREAS, such authorization will provide a convenient method for contractors to obtain permits for minor emergency work; and WHEREAS, such permit issuances will assist the City in properly authorizing, inspecting and tracking such work. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Section 23 -17, Subsection (14)(c) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls is hereby amended to read as follows: "(c) Any work authorized by such Contractor Work Permit shall not be commenced until an individual permit has been completed in full by the contractor for each location of work and is posted or otherwise available at the job site of such proposed work. A contractor who is found doing work without this permit completely filled out and on the lob site shall be treated as working without a permit and subject to a penalty of 100% of the usual permit fee, in addition to the required permit fees." SECTION 2. Section 23 -17, Subsection (14) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls is hereby amended by adding Subsection (e), which shall read as follows: "(e) A Contractor Work Permit will also be issued for patching and /or repair of residential and commercial roofs. This permit can be used as follows: Residential — not to exceed over 200 square feet and in no case exceed over 25% of the whole roof. If a flat and a pitched roof are on the same residence, each shall be considered separately. Commercial — not to exceed over 500 square feet and in no case exceed over 25% of the whole roof. This work permit is to be used solely for patch or repair work only. If any decking is to be replaced regardless of the amount, a regular permit must be issued before work is commenced. A permit is not required when tear —off is not required." SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 5th day of June 2001.
