ORDINANCE AMENDING THE WICHITA FALLS CODE OF
ORDINANCES, APPENDIX C ZONING ORDINANCE, SECTION 4220,
SUBSECTION I. GOVERNING THE PLACEMENT OF CARPORTS
WITHIN THE FRONT AND EXTERIOR SIDE SETBACKS;
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Planning & Zoning Commission has recommended amending
the Code of Ordinances pertaining to the placement of carports within the front setback
and the exterior side setback; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, deems that
amending the placement of carports within the front setback and the exterior side
setback is in the public interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances, Appendix C Zoning
Ordinance, Section 4220, Subsection I. is hereby amended to read as follows, with text
indicated as a strikeout being deleted:
"I. Carports may be permitted within setback areas in the following manner:
Interior side setback area. Carports constructed out of non - combustible
materials with drains and gutters may be placed in an interior side setback area
provided that the supporting columns are no closer than three (3) feet, and the
overhang is no closer than two (2) feet from the side property line.
Front setback and exterior side setback areas. Carports may be placed in the
front setback and exterior side setback areas subject to the approval of a
conditional use permit, as provided for in Section 7200. in rep —T, vie` ing- urh

a-- carport Carports authorized under this section must meet the following
construction standards:
Number of supporting columns — Six (6) maximum.
Column height — Eight (8) feet maximum from highest grade.
Roof height shall not exceed height of primary structure.
Vertical plane from ground to seven (7) feet in the front and sides
of the carport shall be left clear of walls or sheathing.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
