ORDINANCE NO. 1236
AN ORDINXTCE LEVYING1 ASSESSINGf AND FIXING THE RATE OF TAXATION IN
THE CITY OF !'�'ICHITA FAUZ, TEXAS, FOR TIM YEAR A. D. 1936, AND LEVYING AN OCCU-
PATION TAX ON ALL OCCUPATIO11S TAXABLE UMER THE 1,013 OF THE STATE OF TEXAS AND
THE CHARTER AND ORDINANCESOF SAID CITY.,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDEWEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS:
SECTION 1. There shall be levied, assessed, and collected for the
year A.D. 1936 an ad valorem tax of sixty (600) cents on each $100.00 of the
assessed value of all property within the limits of the City of '..ichita Falls,
Texas, subject to taxation under the charter of said City for the purpose of
paying the current expenses and constructing improvements in and for said City.
Said tax to be levied, assessed, and collected, and deposited into what is known
as the General Fund.
SECTION 2. There shall be levied, assessed, and collected for the
year A.D. 1936 an ad valorem tax of fifteen (15�) cents on each �100.00 of the
assessed value of all property within the limits of the City of Wichita Falls,
Texas, subject to taxation under the Charter of said rity for the purpose of
laying out, opening, constructing, repairing, and improving the roads, bridges,
and streets within the limits of said City, and for the further purpose of pay-
ing the interest and principal of funding warrants heretofore legally issued
against the Street Fund. Said tax to be levied, assessed, collected, and de-
posited in what is known as the Street Fund.
SECTION 3. There shall be levied, assessed, and collected for the
year A. D. 1936 an ad valorem tax of twelve (12�) cents on each $100100 of the
assessed value of all property within the limits of said city subject to taxa-
tion under the Charter of said City for the purpose of maintaining, improving,
and beautifying the public parks, playgrounds, and cemeteries of said City,
and for the further purpose of paying the interest and principal of the funding
warrants heretofore legally issued against the park Fund. Said tax to be levied
assessed, collected, and deposited in what is known as the Park Fund.
SECTION 4. There shall be levied, assessed, and collected for the
year A.D. 1936 an ad valorem tax of three (30) cents on each 4100.00 of the
assessed value of all property within the limits of said City subject to taxa-
tion under the Charter of said City for the purpose of maintaining, improving,
and operating the public library in and for said City. Said tax to be levied,
assessed, collected, and deposited in imhat is known as the Library Fund.
SECTION 5. There shall be levied, assessed, and collected for the
year A.D. 1936 an ad valorem tax of fifty (500) cents on each $100.00 of the
assessed value of all property within the limits of said City subject to taxa-
tion under the Charter of said City for the purpose of paying interest on, and
creating a Sinking Fund for redemption thereof of the hereinafter described
bonds which have been heretofore legally issued for the purposes hereinafter
set forth.

SECTION 6. There shall be levied, assessed, and collected from every
person, firm, corporation, company, or association of persons , following or pur-
suing any occupation taxable under the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter
and ordinances of the City of 'VkAchita Falls, one half of the amount payable to
the State under the laws of the State of Texas, for following or pursuing said
occupation. Any person, firm, corporation, or association of persons, who shall
follow or pursue any occupation, calling or profession, or do any act taxable
under the provisions of the State laws, or who shall represent as agent, any
person, firm, corporation, company, or association of persons , following any
occupation so taxed, without having paid the tax required by law, shall upon
conviction in the Corporation Court or any court having jurisdiction hereof be
fined in any sum not less than the tax due nor more than double said amount, and
any one prosecuted for the violation of said law shall have the right to have
his case dismissed upon the payment of the tax and the accrued costs.
SECTION 7. The fact that taxes fcr the year A.D. 1936, are due and
payable on October 1, 1936, creates an emergency requiring that the rules pro-
viding that all ordinances shall passed on three separate days be suspended
and said rules are hereby suspezrae -- nd this ordinance is passed as an emer-
gency measure and shall become effectIve _r�ediately after its passage and
approval as provided by law.
