ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF IN -CAR VIDEO
AND AUDIO RECORDING EQUIPMENT FOR THE WICHITA FALLS
POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH FY 2001 LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
BLOCK GRANT FUNDS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF COMPLYING WITH
STATE LEGISLATION REQUIRING THE COLLECTION AND
COMPILATION OF RACIAL PROFILING DATA; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded $109,179.00 from the FY 2001 Local
Law Enforcement Block Grant, of which $98,261.00 are Federal Funds and $10,918.00
(10 %) is a cash match from Police Department forfeited funds; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature has passed legislation requiring the collection
and compilation of certain racial profiling data; and
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Police Department, as required by LLEBG
guidelines, has established and met with an Advisory Committee made up of members
of the community and the Police Department who decided that the funds should be
used to purchase In -Car Video and Audio Recording equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to utilize FY 2001 Local Law
Enforcement Block Grant funds in the amount of $109,179.00 to purchase In -Car Video
and Audio Recording Equipment for use by the Wichita Falls Police Department to
comply with State Legislation requiring the collection and compilation of racial profiling
data.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
