AN ORDINANCE TO FIX THE MAXIMUM AMOUN`T OF V"ATER FOR THE CONTSUIjTTION OF CHURCHES, SUNDAY SCHOOLS AND HOUSES OF WORSHIP AND THEIR IMMEDI- ATE CONTIGUOUS GROUNDS THERETO IN THE CITY LIMITS OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, WIRIOUT CHARGE FOR SAME AT FOUR THOUSAND GALLONS PER MONTH2 FIXING A RATE OF TEN CENTS PER HUNDRED CUBIC FEET FOR ALL WATER CON- SITDIED BY SUCH INSTITUTIONS ABO'VE FOUR THOUSAND GALLONS PER MONTHo AND TO DECLARE AN K7,RGENCY AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1202. BE IT ORDAINED BY TIE BOARD OF ALDER113N OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS) TEXAS: SECTION I. That hereafter, all churches and houses of worship within the city limits of Wichita Falls, Texast having a building in which there is an auditorium located therein, whose followers are adherents gather for the purpose of religious wor- ship of v�hatever denominationt creed2 or 'belief, and/or having a building or plant for the purpose of what is commonly known as Sunday School uses, and for all of which no revenue is derived therefrom, shall have the use and benefit of such city water as may be reasonable ana necessary, so long as it is not used in a wasteful manner, within such buildings for all purposes, and for all grounds adjacent and contiguous thereto, for watering or irrigating the soil, lawns , flowers, shrubbery2 trees, or any other vegetation thereon without cost for the use thereof for the first four thousand gallons or water consumecL per month, providing that all water used as herein provided, in excess of four thousand gallons per month, shall be paid for at the rate of ten cents per one hundred cubic feet, such pay- ments to be made monthly on rendition of statement from the City Water Department . SECTION II. The fact that we have now approached a season of the year in which considerable water is now or may be required, in oraer to properly sustain end beautify such premises-, and the fact that because of a depressed condition, the adoption of such an or- ainence 'will be greatly beneficial to a large per cent of the citi- zens of Wichita Falls, Texas , and will tend to lessen the burdens of such citizens and, at the same time, to enable them to make such premises more beautiful and attractive, and create an appearance which such worshipers end citizens may enjoy and take a pride in, creates an emergency, and the rule requiring the reading of ordin- ances on three separate occasions , is hereby suspended, and this orainence &hall take effect upon its passage and approval .
