ORDINANCE NO. 1069, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 24TH DAY OF AUGUSTp
A.D. 1931, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE CONSTRUCTION AND
MUNTENANCE OF AWNINGS OV M, AND ABOVE THE STREETS, SIDMIVALKS AND
ALLEYS IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND PRESCRIBING PEN-
NCY'.

SO AS TO ALLOW THE ROOF OF WOODEN AWNINGS TO BE COVERED WITH A
17LAVY GRADE OF SLATE COVERED ROLL ROOFING, AND DECLARING AN MIER-
GENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE, BOARD OF ALD!a� MEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHI'JIA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That the first paragraph of Section 1 of Ordinance No.
1069, passed and approved on the 24th day of August, A.D. 1931�,
entitled "An ordinance regulating the construction and maintenance
of awnings over and above the streets, sidewalks and alleys in the
City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and prescribing a penalty, repeal-
ing Ordinance No. 1019, and declaring an emergency; " be and the
same is hereby amended so as to hereafter read as follows :
Section 1: That all awnings erected and maintained over
the streets., alleys and sidewalks in the City of Wichita Falls:
Texas, shall be substantially attached to and supported by the build-
ings; no awning shall be supported by posts; wooden awnings shall
be of the unsealed or open typeo substantially constructed,, having
the outer edrre su-
pported by rods or chains fastened to the building
and attachedDto a one and one-half (1-21) inch pipe passing through
the outer ends of all awning joists. The roof of all wooden awn-
ings shall be covered with galvanized sheet metal of a thicknes!E' of
at least twenty-six (26) gauge, or with a heavy grade of slate cov-
ered roll roofing.
SECTION 2.
The fact that the present Ordinance requires all wooden
awnings to be covered with galvanized sheet metal works a hardship
upon those who desire to repair, rebuild or recover such awnings;
and the rule requirinE_ the reading of Ordinances on three several
days is hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall. take effect from,
and after its passage and approval.
