Ord 1325 6/9/1941 ORDINANCE NO AN ORDINANCE FINDING THAT UNUSUAL DE]PAULT IN THE PAY1,1ENT OF AD VALOREM TAXES HAS OCCTJRRED IN THE CITY OF 10VICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND THAT AN EXTENSION OF TIME FOR THE PAntIENT OF SUr'H DE- LINQLIENT AD VALOREM TAXES 'Vj'ILL PROMOTE AND ACCELERATE THE COL- LECTION THEREOF, AND ADOP=_, G THE PROVISIONS OF HOUSE BILL NO. 76.9 PASSED, BY T1111 LEGISLATLIRE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS, AND EFFEC- TIVE ON MAY 26.9 1941; PROVIDIjT4G THAT ALL INTEREST AND PENALTIES THAT HAVE ACCRUED ON AD VALOREM TAXES THAT WTEUi DELINQUENIT ON OR BEFORE JULY 19 1940,, AND DUE THE' CITY OF WICEITA FALLS,, TEXAS, SHALL 15E Rll-�'LEASED; PROVIDED SAID AD VALOREM TAXES ARE PAID ON OR BE-20RE NOVEMBER 1p 10,41j AND CONDITIONED THAT SIX PER CENT P�L,N- ALTY BE PAID., AS FROVIEED 3Y SAID ACT; AND DECIAHING AN -EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED 'u'Y THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN 01" TIM CITY OF WICHIT.A_ FALLS., TEXAS: SEC-'L"'ION 1- That the Board of Aldermen of said city does hereby find that unusual default in the payment of ad valorem taxes has occurred in the City of Wichita Falls ; and furt''.er finds that an extension of time for the payment of such ad valorem taxes will promote and accelerate the collection thereof. SLCTION 2. That the provisions of House Bill No. 76, passed .by the Le-islature of the State of Texas, which became effective on May 26, 1941, be and. the same is hereby adopted as effective in said city; and that all interest and penalties that have ac- crued on ad valorem taxes that were delinquent on or before JulT 1.9 1940., and due the said city shall be and the same are hereby released; provided said ad valorem taxes a.re paid on or before Novemo' er 1. 10.41; conditioned that six ( 6,��o) per cent penalty on the total amount of delinquent be paid, as provided in said Act. All amounts of delinquent taxes so paid shall be paid strictly in accordance with the other provisilons of said Act of the Ler,- islature. SECTION 3. The fact that such law has been in effect since May 26, 1941; and the further fact that many persons are desir- ous of payin�S up their delinquent taxes in full and the Tax Col- lector can not accept such payments until this Ordinance is pass- ed; creates an emer,-ency. The constitutional rule requirin-ml the readinE of Ordinances on three several days is hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passa6e and approval.
