AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-1507
CHAPTER 15.,
TITLE 6 OF THE CODIFICATION OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AS ADO?TED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1315, PASS-
ED AND APPROVED ON THE 6TH DAY OF JANUARY, A.D. 1941, SO AS
TO PROVIDE AND REQUIRE SERVICE AUTOMOBILES, TAXICABS AND OTH-
ER MOTOR VEHICLES FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF PASSENGERS FOR
HIRE OTHER THAN BUSES OPERATED UNDER FRANCHISE, TO FILE WITH
THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN A SCHEDULE OF PRESENT CHARGES
SO BEING MADE WITHIN TIE,; CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND AL-
SO REQUIRING THAT ANY INCREASE OR DECREASE OF SUCH FARES SHALL
NOT TAKE EFFECT UNTIL SAME HAVE BEEN FILED WITH THE MAYOR AND
BOARD OF ALDERMEN AND APPROVED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS.
SECTION 1.
That Section 6-1507 of Chapter 15J. Title 6. Codifi-
cation of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, ap-
proved by Ordinance No. 1315., passed on the 6th day of January,
1941., be and the same is hereby amended,, so as to hereafter
read as follows., to-wit :
"Sectiont-1507: The charge for service automobiles,
taxicabs, or other motor vehicles of whatever character, with-
in the City of Wichita Falls ,, Texas, for the transportation
of passengers for hire other than buses operated under fran-
chises, and upon the regular routes and fixed schedules., shall
never be less than the followingj to-wit:
25� for the first 2 miles for 1 or 4 persons;
10� for each additional mile for 1 or 4 persons."
All persons, firms, associations or Corporations
now operating service automobiles, taxicabs or other motor
vehicles of whatever kind or character within the City of
Wichita Falls, Texas, for the transportation of passengers
for hire other than buses operated under franchise qnd upon
regular routes and fixed schedules shall within 15 days after
this Ordinance goes into effect, file with the Mayor and
Board of Aldermen a schedule 'of charges made for the trans-
portation of passengers within the corporate limits of the
City of Wichita Falls, Texas. Any charge made by any such
person, firm, association or corporation for the transporta-
tion of passengers for hire which is more than 25� for the
first 2 miles for 1 or 4 persons and 10� for each additional
mile for 1 or - 4 persons, shall first be approved by the Mayor
and Board of Aldermen' before same shall become effective; and
those operating such service automobile) taxicabs or other
motor vehicles shall first file the schedule of charges with
the Mayor and Board of Aldermen at least 30 days before such
proposed rates are to be put into effect.
Each such vehicle shall have posted in a conspicuous
place in said vehicle a schedule of prices, as provided for in
this Chapter and so charging passengers using the vehicle .
SECTION 2.
The fact that there is no Ordinance now fixing a
maximum charge to be made by service automobiles, taxicabs
and other motor vehicles used for the transportation of pas-
sengers for hire other than buses operating under franchises
and upon regular routes and fixed schedules; and the
further fact that taxicabs and other service auto-
mobiles are making exorbitant charges for the trans-
portation of passengers creates an emergency. The
rule requiring the reading of Ordinances on three
several days is hereby suspended, and this Ordinance
shall take effect immediately upon its passage and
approval.
