SECTION 1.
Tile owner or keeper of any dog that has rabies or symp-
toms thereof, or that is suspected of havine, rabies, Or that may
Lave been exposed to rabies shall del

a veterinarian hospital, approved by the Director of the Depart-
ment of !17ealth and Sanitation, or shall immediately and seeu- rely

and Sanitation, Or such other a6ency as may be charsed with such
duty for a period of not less than 60 days .
SECTION 2.
The owner or kee-r�e,

shall immediately and securely confine such animal -for a period
of ten days in such a Place that no person Or animal may be bit-
ten by it, and shall allow inspection of said animal by an aE;ent
or representative of the Department Of Health and Sanitation from
time to time to determine whether said animai is affected by I
rabies, or the Owner or keeper Of said animal shall quarantine it
for a like time in any veterinarian hospital approved by the De-
partmert Of Eealth aiad Sanitation or shall deliver said animal to
the city pound where it shall
be held for a period Of 10 days for
observation, 30 as to determine whether or not it is affected with

animal is aft'ected with rab same shall be disposed of. If
after said period Of 10 dayslessapid animal is shown-not to be affect-
ed by rabies, it ma�� be returned to its owner or keeper.
SECTION 3.
The owner or keeper of every dog shall report to the
Department Of Health and Sanitation or such other ag-ency as may
be char�;ed with th, duties Of that Department, every animal of
such ov;n--r or keeper which is affected by rabies or which has
�Deen exposed to rabies. It shall also 06 the duty of all prac-
ticin,-,, veterinarians and Other persons within the

rabies, which they know of or I to report all -cases of

directed which report shall be made immediately upon diagnosis
or suspicion of such cases of rabies.
SECTION 4.
Any Person violating, the Provisions of the foregoi%,
Sections shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $200. 0().
SECTION 5.
This Ordinance shall be an,-i Als hereby declared to be
cum�ulative of all Ordinances of the City of 'Xichita Falls, Texas ,
and shall not operate to repeal or arfect any such ordinance or
Ordinances, except insofar as the provisions Of such Ordinance or
Ordinances are inconsistent and in direct confiict 1Trith the pro-
visions of this Ordinance, in which instance or instances those
provisions sl-2,all be and they are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6.
Should any section, Provision r part of this Ordinance
be declared to be unconstitutional or voi0d by a court of competent
jurisdiction, such decision shall in no way affect the validity
of any of the remainin8 parts of this Ordinance, unless the parts
held unconstitutional or void are inseparable from and indispen-
sable to the operation of the rema"-nij.-16 Portions. ""he Board of
Aldermen 1��_ereby declares that it would have passed those parts of
this Ordinance which are valid and Omitted any parts which may be
unconstitutional or invalid if it had known that such parts were
invalid at the time of the passaSe of this Ordinance.
SECTION 7.
The fact that there is an epidemic of rabies in the
City of 14'ichita Falls, Texas, and there is no Ordinance providing
for the quarantine of animals arfected with rabies and exposed
to rabies creates an emev6enc�,�', and the rule requirinc, that Ordi-
nances be read on three several days is heroby suspended and this
Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its Passage and ap-
proval and publication.
