Ord 1414 10/21/1946 ORDINANCE NO. 1414
An ordinance vacating, abandoning and closing a
portion of Sixth Street from the lest line of alley running
through Flocks 137 and 154 of the original town of Wichita
Falls , Texas to the East line of 1Uchigan Avenue in said city.
BE IT ORDAINED BY 11HE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF 'dVI CHI''A
FALLS , TEXAS :
SECTION I. Whereas that portion of Sixth Street
hereinafter described has for more than 40 years been closed
and has not during such period been used as a street and the
public has not had and does not now have any need or desire
for the use of said portion of Sixth Street as a street and
the use of said portion of Sixth Street would necessitate an
underpass , at great expense to the city, or a grade crossing
of numerous 'railroad tracks and thereby create a traffic hazzard
dangerous to persons using said crossing, and
Whereas , persons living in the area and on other
parts of Sixth Street have adequate and sufficient ways of
access to their properties which have been used without com-
plaint for many years , and
Whereas , by reason of Section 7-209 of the Ordinances
of the City of Wichita Falls , the city has authorized, upon the
conditions therein stated, the blockinCD
g and use by the Fort
Worth and Denver City Railway Company of portions of Sixth
Street lying iif,mediately to the West of the following described
portion of said street ,
Now, therefore , the said Board of Aldermen finds that
it is in the public interest that the following portion of Sixth
Street be and the same is hereby vacated, abandoned and closed,
to-wit :
Beginning at the Southeast corner of Lot 8, Block
137 of the original town of 'Nichita Falls , Texas , 'which is at the
intersection of the ,Vest line of said alley with the North line
of Sixth Street for beginning corner; thence Westwardly with
the South line of said Lot 8 and the North line of said Sixth
Street to the Southwest corner of said Lot 8 , which is at the
intersection of the East line of D,'jichigan Avenue and the North
line of Sixth Street ; thence Southwardly with the East line
of Michigan Avenue to the Northwest corner of Lot 14, in
Block 154 of the original town of �,Vichita Falls , Texas which
corner is at the intersection of the South line of Sixth Street
with the East line of Tichigan Avenue; thence Eastwardly with
the North line of said Lot 14 in Block 154, which is also the
South boundary line of said Sixth Street , to the Northeast
corner of Lot 14, which is at the intersection of the Vilest line
of alley running through said block and the South line of
Sixth Street; thence Northwardly with the West line of said
alley to the beginning point.
SECTION 2. - This ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after its adoption as required by law.
