SECTION I
That Section I of Ordinance No. 1347, passed and approved the loth
day of August, A. D., 191+2, be, and the sage is hereby amended, so as to
hereinafter read as follows:
,SECTION II
There is hereby levied against each and every person, firm and
corporation engaged in the sale of gas (natural and/or artificial and/or
mixed) in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, a rental charge of 20 of the
gross income from the sale of gas (natural and/or artificial and/or mixed)
within such city; such charge being made for the use of the streets, alleys
and public ways of said city by such persons, firms and corporations engaged
in the gas business.
SECTION III
The fact that gas companies, and persons engaged in the gas busi—
ness, in the city of Wichita Falls, have been occupying and using the streets,
alleys and other public ways of said city for many years without the payment
of an adequate rent for the use thereof, and a financial emergency existing
in the municipal government of said city creates an emergency, and the rule
requiring the reading of Ordinances on three several days is hereby sus—
pended, and this Ordinance shall take effect Linediately upon its passage
and appraval.
