AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20 OF ORDINANCE NO. 14230
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, ON THE 20TH DAY OF JAIL?UARY, 1947, PROVIDING THAT NO SPIRITUOUS,
VINOUS OR MALT LIQUORS SHALL BE SOLD !TITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, WICHITA COUNTY, TEXAS, AND THAT NO LICENSE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERYE?` OF THE CITY OF

SECTION 1.
That Section 1, of Ordinance No . 1416 , passed and approved by
the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, on the 21st
day of October, A. D. , 1946 , is hereby amended so as to hereafter
read as follows, to-wit :
SECTION 2.
That no spirituous, vinous or malt liquors shall be sold
within the corporate limits of the City of Wichita Falls , :Vichita
County, Texas ; and that no license or permit shall be issued for the
sale of same , either by the State of Texas, County of Wichita or City
of Wichita Falls, except within the following described area and with-
in the boundaries herein set out , to-wit :
"Beginning at a point 150 ft. N. of Sixth St. and 150 ft . I.V.

Flood St . ; and beginning at the center of the intersection of Smith
and Flood Street, thence West on the center of Flood St . to the center
of the intersection of Flood and Park Street ; thence S. on Park St .
to the center of the alley between Flood and Bonner St . ; thence E . on
said alley to the center of Smith St . ; thence N. on Smith St . to the
place of beginning (thus including the north half of Block Number four
( 4) Sayles Addition to the City of Wichita Falls , Texas) ; and further
providing that all establishments in said north half of Block four
(4) Sayles Addition, in which such spirituous, vinous or malt liquors
are disposed of or sold , shall front on Flood St . , and all entrances
to such establishments used by the public, shall open on Flood St .,,
SECTION 3.
The fact that the sale of intoxicating liquors has been
recently authorized and legalized within the corporate limits of the
City of ulichita Falls , Texas, and that the establishment of places of
business outside of the district defined in this Ordinance would
jeopardize the peace and health of citizens within the residence dis-
tricts of said City creates an emergency , and this Ordinance is hereby
declared an emergency measure on the ground of urgent public need for

the preservation of peace , health and safety of property; and the rule
requiring the reading of Ordinances on three ( 3) several days is
hereby suspended , and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after
its passage and approval .
