AN ORDINANCE AIVEI DING SECTION TWO ( 2) OF ORDINANCE N0.
1296, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 22ND DAY OF JANUARY, A.D.1940
ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND DEFINING PARKING METERZONLS
IN THL CITY OF WICHITA, FALLS, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE INSTALLA-
TIOiV, OPEHATIO V AND MAIiVTENAIVCE OF Al2CEANICAL DEVICES TO REGULATE
PARKING IN SAID PARKING METER ZONES; PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION
OF REGULATORY AND INSPECTION FEES FOR THE UuE OF SUCH DEVICES;

OF PARKING METERS; DEFINING WHAT ACT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL, AND FIX-
ING PENALTIES FOR TIC: VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDI-
TvANCE, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS 02 ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
NOW, TFERE.FORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA, FALLS, TEXAS;
SECTION 1. That Section 11 of Ordinance No. 1296, pass-
ed and approved the 22nd day of January, A.D. 1940, be and the
same is hereby amended so as to hereafter read as follows ;
"SECTION 11: Amending Section 11 of Ordinance No. 1296
that a parking meter zone is hereby designated and established
in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, said parking meter zone
shall embrace both sides of the following streets in the City
Of Wichita Falls, Texas'
7th Street from its intersection with Travis
Street to its intersection with Austin Street;
8th Street from its intersection with Travis
Street to its intersection with Austin Street ;
Lamar Avenue from llth Street to 12th Street;
8th Street from Ohio Avenue to Depot;
llth Street from Lamar to Ohio Avenue.
That when parking meter spaces are indicated on the
above described parts of said streets by painted lines upon the
surface of the streets in the parking meter zones as created by
Ordinance No. 1243, or as created by subsequent Ordinances, and
when parking meters are installed adjacent to or adjoining said
respective parking meter spaces as created by said Ordinance no
vehicle shall remain parked within any of said spaces within the
zone or upon any portion of said street in said zone hereby ex-
tended for a longer continuous period than two hours at any time
between the hours of 9 o 'clock A-Mo and 6 o' clock P.I.j. on any day
except Sundays and holidays officially designated by the Board of
Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas. tt
The fact that there is a great srortage of parking space
within the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and cars parked in the
space above described on 7th and 8th Streets during the entire
day without gloving creates a hazard and congestion in the parking
area of said City and endangers life and .property in a manner that
creates an emergency, and this Ordinance shall take effect on and
after its passage and publication, and it is so o dp ed.
