Ord 1473 3/14/1949 ORDINANCE NO. 1473 AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY LIfIITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY ANhEXI�G CLFtTAIN LAND ADJACENT TO THE P d SLIPI Th?diITORIAL LDIITS OF THE, CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, Ta- -AS, THE SAKE LYING IN A SOUTHLJiLY DIRECTION FROM THE YrtE:St DIT CITY LIMITS OF Tht, CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, ALL OF WHICH LA14DS ARE FULLY DhSChIBED IN THE; BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE AND DECLARING AN EMERGEAICY, WHL LAS, on the 27th day of September, 1948, a majority of the residents of the hereinafter described territory qualified to vote for members of the Legislature of the State of Texas under the provisions of Section 4 of the Charter of. the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, adopted march 30, 1920, and amendments thereto, filed their petition in writing praying that the herein- after described tract and parcel of land, be annexed to and included within the corporate limits of the City of Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, and show- ing facts authorizing the annexing of said territory to said City and the inclu- sion thereof within the corporate limits of said City, and WHET(EAS, said petition was duly heard at the regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen on the 27th day of September, A. D. 1948, at which time said petition was set down for public hearing before said Board of Aldermen at the regular meeting of said Board on the llth day of October, A. D. 1948, at which time said public hearing was duly held and no adverse interest appearing, the admission of said territory was approved and an ordinance drawn to include the hereinafter described territory within the City limits of said City. NOW, T OhL, BE; IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALD.MEN OF THE CITY OI' tVIC11ITA FAL:,6, TtLXAS: SECTION 1: That the following described tract and parcel of land situated in Wichita County, Texas, be, and the same is hereby now ordered to be annexed to and to be included within the said City of Wichita Falls) Texas, and that the corporate limits of said City be extended to include said terri- tory,more particularly described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at a point in the Last line of Taft Street where the present city limits line on Hampstead Lane intersects said East line of Taft Street; Thence South along the East line of Taft Street 235 feet to a point; , Thence East parallel with and 235 feet distant from the South line of Hampstead Lane to an intersection with the East line of Harrison Street; Thence in a Southerly direction along the mast line of Harrison Street to the North line of Irving Place; Thence in a Southeasterly direction along the North line of Irving Place to the West line of Weeks Park; Thence following the meanders of the West line of Weeks Park, as described in deeds from Fred Weeks to the City of Wichita Falls, recorded in Vol. 270, page 185, and Vol. 305, page 118, of Wichita County deed records and subsequent deeds from Lester Jones, Trustee, recorded in Vol. 119, page 481, Wichita County deed records, to the Southllest corner of J. A. Scott Survey #r8; Thence East along the South line of J. A. Scott Survey #83 934 f'. to a corner; Thence North 1043.5 feet to a corner; Thence North 18 degrees 23 minutes East 218 feet to the North line of Kemorial Drive; Thence East along the North line of Piemorial Drive to an intersection with the East line of Lake Park- drive; Thence in a Northeasterly direction along the East line of Lake Park Drive to an intersection with the North line of Rowland Street; Thence in a Southeasterly direction along the north line of Rowland Street to the East line of J. A. Scott Survey #8, Abst. #294; Thence North along the East line of TA. Scott Survey #8 to its Northeast corner; Thence East along the South line of J. A. Scott Survey #9, Abst. #305, to West right of way line of U. S. Highway #281; Thence North along said West right of way line of U. S. Highway #281 to the North lire of Pocohontas Street; Thence West along the North line of Pocohontas Street to the East line of Block 9, J. A. Scott Survey #9; Thence North along the East line of said Block #9 to the Northeast corner of said Block #9, J. E:. Scott Survey #j'9; Thence East 1320 feet along South line of Block 5, J. A, Scott Survey #9 to its Southeast corner; Thence North along the East line of Blocks 5 and 3, J. A. Scott Survey #9 to the present city limits; Thence in a Southwesterly direction along; present city limits line,parallel to and 200 feet distant (measured at right angles) from the center line of the city aqueduct, to a point in the division lire between subdivision Blocks 4 and 5 of J. A. Scott Survey #9; Thence South along the West line of said Block 5 to the Southwest corner of Block 5, J. A. Scott Survey ##9; Thence incest along the North lire of Block #9, J. A. Scott Survey #9 to the Northwest corner of Block #9, Thence south with the West line of sai*lock #9, J. A. Scott Survey #9 to the South line of the J. L. Downing tract out of the A. F, Criswell Survey, Abst. #346; Thence West along the South line of the J. L. Downing tract out of the A. F. Criswell Survey., being a line 10 feet South of the North line of Hampstead Lane, to the place of beginning at the East line of Taft Street; containing within these metes and bounds 569 acres more or less. The fact that there now exists an urgent public need for the preservation of peace, health, and safety of residents of the above described property constitutes an emergency. TIfrREFOhE, the rules requiring ordinances to be read on three several days are hereby suspended and an emergency declared and this ordi— nance shall take effect from the date of its approval.
