TEXAS, AS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1315, PASSED AND APPROVED ON
THE 6TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1941, CREATIItiTG THE OFFICE OF FIRE MARSHALL,
PROVIDING FOR HIS APPOIMENT; MAKING HIM RESPONSIBLE TO THE CITY
MANAGER;" SETTING ThE SALARY AND PROVIDING FOR LONGEVITY PAY; RS-
TAINING ANY RIGHTS OF A PERSON SUBJECT TO THE CIVIL SERVICE LAW,
ARTICLE 1269-M, VEfNON'S REVISED CIVIL STATUTES, R1D ORDINANCE
NO. 1456, AND DECLARING AN EKERG121CY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF TH'�' CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2-1101, Chapter 11, Title 2, of
the Codification of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls,
Texaz, be amended to read as follows:
SECTION 2. The office of Fire Marshall is hereby created.
The office shall be filled by appointment of the City Manager
and with the advice and consent of the City Council. Such
officer shall be directly responsible to the City Manager and
shall make all reports to such City Manager as shall be re -
required by the City Manager. The salary of the person appointed
to such office shall be the sane as a captain in the Fire De-
partment, plus any longevity pad* such person may be entitled
to under the state law or any city ordinance. The appointment
of any person classified or subject to being classified by the
Civil Service Coi-mii.ssion of the City of Wichita Falls shall
never affect his rights under the Civil Service laws, either
state statutes or city ordinances.
SECTION 3. The fact that there is a present need for such
an officer as herein provided for and the further fact that the
best interests of the citizens of the City of Wichita Falls re -
require that the office be created immediately creates an emergency
and the rule requiring the reading of ordinances on three several
days is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall take effect
from and after its passage.
