ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE MUNICIPAL
GENERAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS
ON MAY 3, 2003; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING
AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE
PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls has heretofore called for
a general election to be held in said City on May 3, 2003 to elect a Councilor At- Large,
Councilor District 1, and Councilor District 2; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 2 of the TEXAS ELECTION CODE, the City
Council ordered the At -Large and District 2 elections scheduled to be held May 3, 2003
canceled, and declared the unopposed candidates, Arthur B. Williams, Councilor At-
Large, and James Esther, Jr., Councilor District 2, elected; and,
WHEREAS, the election officers who held the election for District 1 have duly
made the returns of the result thereof, and said returns have been duly delivered to said
City Council, and,
WHEREAS, it is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which
this Ordinance was passed was open to the public, and public notice of the time, place
and purpose of said meeting was given, all as required by Chapter 551 of the TEXAS
GOVERNMENT CODE, and,
WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said election, it was found to be duly
and legally held in all respects, and that 597 voters voted in said election, and that
votes were cast as follows:
FOR COUNCILOR, DISTRICT 1:
Don Johnston received 255 votes
Richard King III received 34 votes
Linda R. Ammons received 305 votes
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Said election was in all respects legally held in accordance with the
laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and the Ordinances of the City of Wichita
Falls.
SECTION 2. The City Council officially finds, determines and declares the results
of said election to be that r.; ncla R Ammnnc was duly and legally elected
Councilor District 1.
SECTION 3. The City Council has declared Arthur Bea Williams duly and legally
elected Councilor At- Large, and James Esther, Jr. duly and legally elected Councilor
District 2.
SECTION 4. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this Ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
