ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, WAIVING SECTIONS 82 -58, 82 -62 AND 82 -63 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PERMIT VEHICLES ON THE GRASS,
SALES OF GOOD OR WARES, AND THE POSTING OF SIGNS;
APPROVING THE RESERVATION OF OPEN SPACE IN PROXIMITY TO
THE COMMUNITY BUILDING AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES IN
JALONICK PARK FOR A JUNETEENTH ACTIVITY DAY BY THE
TEXHOMA MASS CHOIR JUNE 21, 2003; FINDING AND DETERMINING
THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED
WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Texhoma Mass Choir wishes to host a Juneteenth Activity Day
in Jalonick Park June 21, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, they believe the event will be more successful if they are permitted
to post signs, drive vehicles on the grass, conduct sales and to have areas around the
community building and the recreational facilities reserved from 8:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m.
for their event; and,
WHEREAS, the event is a desirable activity for the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Sections 82 -58, 82 -62 and 82 -63 of the Code of Ordinances are
hereby waived to permit vehicles on the grass for delivery of heavy items (provided
ground conditions are sufficiently dry to avoid the creation of ruts by said vehicles),
sales of goods or wares, and signs posted for the Texhoma Mass Choir's Juneteenth
Activity Day in Jalonick Park on June 21, 2003. Approval is also granted for the
reservation of open space in proximity to the community building and recreational
facilities in Jalonick Park from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. for this event.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
