Commissioner Miller called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

5. Report from Fire Chief
Chief Reese said that the Fire Department was 6 positions short and nearing the final
Chief Reese indicated interest in bringing the idea of an alternate promotional system for
the Fire Department up to the Fire Association pending the results for the Police Department's
execution of an alternate promotional system. He also indicated that the Fire Department felt that
the idea was a good one and was very interested to see the outcomes of that new system.

Chief Borrego anticipated at least three retirements, a Captain, Lieutenant, and a
Sergeant. The alternate promotional system would be within the same time frame as these
retirements, which Chief Borrego is anticipating utilizing.
