RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2 -2002, AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR THIRTEENTH YEAR FUNDING
OF THE NORTH TEXAS REGIONAL DRUG ENFORCEMENT TASK
FORCE; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT
WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE
PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, on January 3, 2002, the Wichita Falls City Council passed and
approved Resolution No. 2 -2002, authorizing the City Manager to apply for thirteenth
year funding of the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force; and,
WHEREAS, language was omitted from such resolution that insures that in the
event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division funds, the funds would be
returned in full to the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend Resolution No. 2 -2002 by the
addition of a new Section 3 to include such assurance of return of the funds; and,
WHEREAS, the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force Grant has
proven to be an effective weapon in combating drug offenses in the North Texas area;
and,
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has provided funds for a continuation of
Drug Enforcement Grants for fiscal year 2002 -2003; and,
WHEREAS, the matching funds requirement will be met by sixteen entities
providing equal shares of the $141,752.50; and,
WHEREAS, the applicable share for the City of Wichita Falls for its participation
in the grant project is $8,860.00
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Sufficient funds of $8,860.00 are available for the City of Wichita
Falls' share of the matching funds requirement for the continuation of the North Texas
Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force Grant.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to make application for
thirteenth -year funding of the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force
Grant to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, Byrne Program.
SECTION 3. In the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division funds,
the City of Wichita Falls assures that the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice
Division, Office of the Governor, in full.
SECTION 4. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
