RESOLUTION TERMINATING THE 1956 AGREEMENT WITH THE
JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REGARDING DEVELOPMENT OF
JAYCEE PARK AND CHANGING THE NAME TO LAKE WICHITA PARK;
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS the City is currently placing significant emphasis upon development
of Lake Wichita for recreational purposes; and;
WHEREAS changing the name of Jaycee Park to the original name of Lake
Wichita Park will emphasize Lake Wichita as the greatest natural asset of the park, and;
WHEREAS, the name was changed by City Council in the 1956 Agreement with
the Junior Chamber of Commerce to Jaycee Park as encouragement for the Junior
Chamber of Commerce to construct a marina and related facilities in the park, and;
WHEREAS, the action to terminate the 1956 Agreement is appropriate as the
Junior Chamber of Commerce organization has dissolved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The 1956 Agreement with the Junior Chamber of Commerce is
hereby terminated and the name of Jaycee Park is changed to Lake Wichita Park.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
