RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE CITY COUNCIL'S INTENT TO
PLACE A PROPOSAL ON A FUTURE COUNCIL AGENDA
APPROVING A PROPERTY TAX RATE THAT EXCEEDS THE
NOTICE AND PUBLIC HEARING LIMIT; SCHEDULING A PUBLIC
HEARING, AND ESTABLISHING THE DATE TO VOTE ON SAME;
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, State law prescribes specific procedures that local governments
must follow when setting property tax rates for the ensuing year; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is considering adopting a tax rate that exceeds the
effective tax rate by at least 3 percent.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Wichita Falls hereby expresses its
intent to place an item on the City Council agenda of September 17, 2002 to consider
adopting a property tax rate of 10 _ 62206 per $100 of assessed property value.
SECTION 2. The City Council furthermore expresses its intent to conduct a
public hearing to discuss the property tax rate on September 10, 2002.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law
