RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AN EXPENDITURE BY THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT FROM THE SEIZED FUNDS ACCOUNT FOR A ONE-
TIME DONATION OF TEN THOUSAND ($10,000.00) DOLLARS TO THE
WICHITA FALLS CRIME STOPPERS, INC.; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Crime Stoppers, Inc. also operates sixteen
Umbrella Campus Crime Stoppers Programs in every high school and junior high
school in Wichita County; and
WHEREAS, the programs are funded entirely by Wichita Falls Crime Stoppers,
Inc., and each school has its own student Board of Directors, and the Campus
Programs pay out cash rewards of up to $100.00; and
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Crime Stoppers, Inc., does not receive any tax
dollars to pay cash rewards and does not keep any monies received from seizures
during arrests, and relies entirely on private contributions from the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The expenditure of funds in the amount of $10,000.00 from the
Police Department Seized Fund Account is hereby authorized for the expenses
necessary to ensure that the reward funds are ample to meet the ongoing demand that
must be paid each month.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
