A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
CONTRACTS WITH THE TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION, CHILD
CARE, INC. AND THE YMCA TO PROVIDE MATCHING FUNDS FOR
CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE
MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN
TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls annually allocates Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) funds to the provision of affordable child care for low and
moderate income; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls agrees to provide certification of $80,000 of
these CDBG expenses to the Texas Workforce Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls agrees to act as a "pass through" agency to
leverage additional federal dollars for affordable child care; and
WHEREAS, Child Care, Inc. and the YMCA agree to each furnish $13,247.50 in
matching funds; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Workforce Commission agrees to use the total local
match of $106,495 to leverage an additional $159,676 in federal Child Care
Development Funds; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Wichita Falls City Council to be in the
public interest to provide a mechanism for securing additional funds for child care for
income eligible parents in Wichita Falls.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into contracts /agreements
with Texas Workforce Commission, Child Care, Inc., and the YMCA.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
