Res 109-2002 10/15/2002RESOLUTION NO. )()�-aOCQGk, A RESOLUTION NAMING THE WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS MULTI- PURPOSE COLISEUM THE KAY YEAGER COLISEUM AS RECOMMENDED BY THE MULTI - PURPOSE EVENT CENTER BOARD; DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls will soon witness the completion of the coliseum and the Multi -Event Center location, and WHEREAS, the completion of this building will represent the fulfillment of the original plan and concept to construct three distinctly different buildings, the Agricultural Center, the Exhibit Hall and the Coliseum at one location; and WHEREAS, leadership for this project has been provided in great part by Kay Yeager, acting back to the initial start of effort, to plan for and complete all of the buildings; and WHEREAS, significant private funding in excess of eleven million dollars has been raised and secured for the entire project by Kay Yeager including over five million dollars for the coliseum; and WHEREAS, Kay Yeager continues to provide direction and leadership towards the successful construction and operation of the MPEC complex and; WHEREAS, the Multi- Purpose Events Board has recommended that the coliseum building be named the Kay Yeager Coliseum in recognition of her efforts to plan for and raise necessary funding for the MPEC Complex. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The Coliseum Building located at the MPEC Center is hereby named and recognized as the Kay Yeager Coliseum in recognition of her total efforts to assist in providing for the construction and operation of the Coliseum and other MPEC facilities. SECTION 2. That the MPEC Board is authorized to provide appropriate signage indicating that the MPEC Coliseum has been named the Kay Yeager Coliseum. SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 15th day of October, 2002.
