RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR
TWELFTH YEAR FUNDING OF THE NORTH TEXAS REGIONAL DRUG
ENFORCEMENT TASK FORCE IN THE AMOUNT OF $526,284;
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the North Texas Regional Drug Task Force grant has proven to be
and effective weapon in combating drug offenses in the North Texas area; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has provided funds for a continuation of
Drug Enforcement Grants for the fiscal year 2001 -2002; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls Police Department desires to continue the
grant project, and submit necessary grant applications in the amount of Five Hundred
Twenty -Six Thousand Eighty -four ($526,284.00) Dollars, of which twenty - five percent
or One Hundred Thirty -One Thousand Five Hundred Seventy -one ($131,571.00) must
be matching funds from participating entities, or drug forfeiture monies; and
WHEREAS, the matching funds requirement will be met by sixteen (16) entities
providing equal shares of the One Hundred Thirty -one Thousand Five Hundred
Seventy -one ($131,572.00); and
WHEREAS, the applicable share for the City of Wichita Falls, Texas for
participating in the grant project would be Eight Thousand Two Hundred Twenty -three
($8,223.00) Dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to make application for
twelfth year funding of the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force Grant,
and that sufficient funds are available for the local matching share.
SECTION 2. That in the event of loss or misuse of these funds, the City of
Wichita Falls assures the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division Office
the Governor in full.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
