RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE USE OF POLICE DEPARTMENT
SEIZED FUNDS FOR PROCUREMENT OF BIOLOGICAL /CHEMICAL
PERSONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT FOR SWORN AND NON -SWORN
POLICE PERSONNEL; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE
MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN
TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the threat of biological or chemical exposure to members of the
Wichita Falls Police Department during the execution of normal and routine duties has
escalated, requiring all staff to be involved in various investigations of threats to the
public and to the Department; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is required to pursue and investigate these
threats and to make all necessary and comprehensive preparations for the safety of all
Police personnel; and
WHEREAS, funding necessary to the procurement of the needed life safety
equipment was not budgeted, but is available from the Wichita Falls Police Department
Seized Fund Accounts; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need to use said seized funds for
the procurement of life safety equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Police Department is hereby authorized to expend Police
Department Seized Funds in the amount of $16,686.25 for the purchase of necessary
multi -event biological /chemical exposure protective equipment for sworn and non -sworn
personnel of the Wichita Falls Police Department.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
