Ord 1529 7/24/1950 ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY ANNEXING CERTAIN LAND ADJACENT TO THE PRESENT TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF SAID CITY, THE SAME LYING IN A SOUTH- WESTERLY DIRECTION FROM THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS, KNOWN AS GILLASPIA ADDITION, ALL OF WHICH LANDS ARE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS on the 26th day of June, 1950, a majority of the residents of the hereinafter described territory, qualified to vote for members of the Legislature of the State of Texas, under the provisions of Section 4 of the Charter of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, adopted March 30, 1920, and amendments thereto, filed their petition in writing praying that the here- inafter described tract and parcel of land be annexed to and included with- in the corporate limits of the City of Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, and showing facts authorizing the annexing of said territory to said City and inclusion thereof within the corporate limits of said City; and E said petition was duly heard at the regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen on said 26th day of June, 1950, at which time said peti- tion was set down for public hearing before said Board of Aldermen at the regular meeting of said Board on the loth day of July, 1950, at which time, after due notice, said public hearing was duly held, and no adverse in- terests appearing, the annexation of said territory was approved and an ordinance drawn to include the hereinafter described territory within the City limits of said City; NOT9, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the following described tract and parcel of land, situated in Wichita. County, Texas, be and the sane is hereby now ordered to be annexed to and included within the said City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and that the corporate limits of said City be extended to include said territory, more particularly described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at the southwest corner of Block 195, Subdivision of Lake Wichita Irrigated Land, said corner being the east right-of--way line of the Wichita Falls and Southern Railroad. Thence south with the east right-of-way line of the Wichita Falls and Southern Railway to an intersection with a westerly prolongation of the north line of Archer Street. Thence east along the north line of Archer Street to a point 100 ft, east of the southeast corner of lot 12 of Gillaspia Addition. Thence north 660 ft. Thence west 587 feet to the east line of Grant Street. Thence in a northeasterly direction along the east line of Grant Street to an intersection with the present city limits at Arizona Avenue. Thence west along the south line of Arizona Avenue to a point in the east line of Block 192 of Subdivision of Lake Wichita Irrigated Land. Thence north along the east line of Blocks 192, 193 and 194 to the southeast corner of Block 195 of said subdivision of Lake Wichita Irrigated Lands. Thence west along the south line of said Block 195 to its south- west corner, being the place of beginning. Containing within these metes and bounds 38.2 acres of land more or less. Section 2. The fact that there now exists an urgent public need for the preservation of peace, health and safety of residents of the above described property constitutes an emergency. Therefore, the rules requir— ing ordinances to be read on three several days are hereby suspended and an emergency declared and this ordinance shall take effect from the date of its approval.
