Ord 1531 7/24/1950 ORDINANCE NO. Lsl AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND FIXING FIRE LANES ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF SEVENTH STREET FROM THE EAST LINE OF THE FORT WORTH AND DENVER AND KATY RAILWAY COMPANIES RIGHT-OF-STAY TO THE WEST LINE OF SEYMOUR STREET; THE NORTH SIDE OF FLOOD STREET FROM THE EAST LINE OF PARK STREET TO THE WEST LINE OF ROSEWOOD AVENUE; THE WEST SIDE OF FILMORE STREET FROM THE SOUTH LINE OF NINTH STREET TO THE NORTH LINE OF TENTH STREET, ALSO THE NORTH SIDE OF TENTH STREET EXTENDING FROM THE CURB LINE AT THE NORTHWEST INTERSECTION OF TENTH AND FILMORE STREETS WESTERLY A DISTANCE OF SEVENTY FEET; AND THE WEST SIDE OF MONROE STREET FROM THE SOUTH LINE OF AVENUE E EXTENDING SOUTH A DISTANCE OF 265 FEET; PROHIBITING THE PARKING OF ANY AND ALL VEHICLES IN SUCH FIRE LANES; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: Section 1. That there is hereby created a fire lane along the south side of Seventh Street, from the east line of the Fort Worth and Denver and Katy Railway Companies right-of-gray to the weat line of Seymour Street. Section 2. That there is hereby created a fire lane along the north side of Flood Street, from the east line of Park Street to the west line of Rosewood Avenue. Section 3. That there is hereby created a fire lane along the west side of Filmore Street, from the south line of Ninth Street to the north line of Tenth Street, also along the north side of Tenth Street, extending from the curb line at the northwest intersection of Tenth and Filmore Streets, westerly a distance of seventy (70) feet. Section 4. That there is hereby created a fire lane along the west side of Monroe Street from the south line of Avenue E extending south a dis- tance of 265 feet. Section 5. That it shall hereafter be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to park a vehicle of any kind or description on those portions, or any part thereof, of the above created fire lanes and upon conviction of such violation such person, firm or corporation shall be fined any sun of money not more t1ran $200.00 nor less than $5.00. The fact that parking at certain times in the above set out zones creates a fire hazard for the property owners in that area, and the fact that such streets are narrow to such an extent that it would be practically im- possible for a fire truck to go between vehicles parked on both sides of the streets above described creates an emergency and the rule requiring the reading of an ordinance on three (3) separate days is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall become effective upon its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
