AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION II (TWO) OF ORDINANCE NO, 1296,
PASSED.AND APPROVED ON THE 22nd DAY OF JANUARY, A. D. 194.0,
ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND DEFINING PARKING METER
ZONES IN THE CITY OF WICHITA.FALIS, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE
INSTALLATION, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF MECHANICAL DEVICES
TO REGULATE PARKING IN SAID PARKING METER ZONES; PROVIDING
FOR THE COLLECTION OF REGULATORY AND INSPECTION FEES FOR THE
USE OF SUCH DEVICES; PROVIDING FOR THE DEPOSIT OF SUCH FEES
BY THE CITY TREASURER IN A SPECIAL FUND; PROVIDING FOR THE
METHOD AND PURPOSES OF.DISBURSEMENT CF .SAID FUND; MAKING IT
UNLAWFUL TO USE THE STREETS OR PORTIONS OF THE STREETS SO
DESIGNATED FOR PARKING EXCEPT THROUGH USE CF. PARKING METERS;
DEFINING THAT ACT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL, AND FIXING PENALTIES FOR
THE-VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE, AND REPEAL-
ING ALL ORDINANCES AM PARTS OF ORDINANCES_IN CONFLICT HEREWITH",
AND DECLARING AN NCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section II of Ordinance No. 1296, passed and
approved the 22nd day of January, 1940, be and the same is hereby amend-
ed so as to include as part of the Parking Meter Zone the following ad.•
ditional territory, to-wit:
The north side of Ninth Street, from the intersection of Ohio
Avenue east to the railroad track;
Designated parking areas on Lot No. 8 in Block Nos, 177, OrigL
nal Townsite of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas.
SECTION 2. Parking on ?got No„ 8 in Block No. 177, Original
Tomsite of the City of Xchita Falls, Texas, shall be restricted between
the hours of 8 A.M. and 10 P.M. daily, except Sundays and/or legal holi-
days. This restriction shall apply to this designated area only and to no
other parking meter zone,
The fact that there is a great shortage of parking space with-
in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and the fact that cars parked in
the above described area the entire day without moving creates a hazard
and congestimi in the parking area of said City, and endangers life and
property in a manner that creates an emergency, and this ordinance shell
take effect on and after its passage and publication, and it is so
ordered.
