BE IT ORDAINED BT'- TIE-1 BOARD OF ALDERTiEN 07 THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That it shall hereafter be unlawful for any
person, operator, owner or lessee of any automobile for hire opera-
ting within the City of "ikichita Falls , Texas , to cruise. Cruising
shall consist of seekin-;, searching for or soliciting employment
while operating an automobile for hire, by driving such automobile
for hire on t:-e public streets of the oity of Wichita Falls and
offering accomodations thereof to prospective passengers either by
signal, word of mouth or by carrying a sign with the word "vacant"
thereon, or in any manner whatsoever operating said vehicle upon
the public streets of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas , for the
ourpose of soliciting; passengers.
SECTION 2. Any person violating this provision shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall
be punished by a fine of not less than.. Ten Lollars nor more than
Two Hundred Dollars . Each and every act constituting a violation
hereof shall constitute a separate offense and be punished as such.
SECTICILT 3. The fact that many taxicab drivers are now
cruising-, the streets of this City seekinc and soliciting; passengers ,
which practice ?reatly increases the traffic congestion and 'hazards
in heavy traffic areas , creates an emergency and an imperative public
necessity, and the rule requiring the reading of ordinances on three
separate days is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall take
effect immediately upon its passage and publication as provided by
law.
