RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR
ASSISTANCE UNDER THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE WEED AND
SEED GRANT PROGRAM AND TO EXECUTE ANY NECESSARY
CONTRACTS INCLUDED IN THE APPLICATION; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, there is a need for financial assistance to improve the quality of life
in target neighborhoods through the Weed and Seed program administered by the
Department of Justice; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls, acting as the administering agency, is
required to enter into a contract with the Department of Justice once the application is
approved; and
WHEREAS, the City may enter into sub - recipient agreements to conduct the
activities described in the application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to apply to the Department of
Justice for a one -year award of a minimum of $125,000 and a maximum of $225,000.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute contract agreements
with the Department of Justice.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is authorized to execute sub - recipient
agreements with non - profit agencies for the day -to -day operation of the program.
SECTION 4. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
